today in class.

today in class, we talked about the significance (well mainly Insignificance) of structure to public schools. I didn't contribute a lot to class because i never went to a public school where i thought about these things. Instead i went to a DOD school... Department of Defense, in Japan. On a naval base. it was very interesting to hear everyone's opinions about the matter. everyone today i felt had something to say.

anyway, nathan asked whether we thought demography or teachers roles played a more significant part. today i spoke about how i thought teachers play a TREMENDOUS role in my high school career, but it got me thinking about how i never witnessed the kind of environments where demography was a huge factor in education as well. i started feeling like those people on committees making up rules and regulations but never experiencing it themselves.

i think that's also a big part of committees. whether it's for public transportation or public schooling, people make up these regulations (like me earlier) without experiencing it themselves. no wonder why politicians are looked heavily on their background.

this something i should've brought up in class. and got the class's opinion on it.
