This past weekend, I attended a Vietnamese Catholic baptismal. It wasn't my first time going, but since taking this class, I found it interesting to observe. I've been to a few of this family's baptismals, but i've noticed that at every event, they come no matter the weather, in any shape or size. I've noticed (and from personal experience i might add) that family is important in Asian cultures. We've spoken about the family dynamics and the roles children play in them. I was observing that the women with babies, never let them go. They stood or held their children at all times. I remember from the videos we've watched in class, that parenting is very "hands-on" in asian cultures. Even have living in the states for quite sometime, that cross culture experience is still effective when it comes to parenting. Cross culture is a product of my OWN life, and its interesting to see it in other cultures also.
